Our Curriculum
Our Curriculum
Our curriculum is based around our 6 school values of Curiosity, Creativity, Communication, Confidence and Courage, Compassion and Connections. We have high expectations and aspirations for all our pupils and we have a clear curriculum intent for all our pupils: Our Curriculum Intent for all our Pupils
We teach our whole curriculum using our Clyst Hydon '9 Principles of High-Quality Teaching and Learning'
Our 9 principles of high quality teaching at Clyst Hydon Primary School
Our school follows the National Curriculum Programme of Study

Our Long Term Curriculum Plan
We have developed our curriculum with the needs and interests of our children and school community, whilst following the National Curriculum and aiming at all times to develop our school values within all our learning.
We have a 4 year long term plan in KS2 and a 3 year long term plan in Reception and KS1. Every term has either a History or Geography Core Topic, supported by a motivating related key English text. We then teach all our other subjects linked to this Core topic so that our children have a really deep understanding of the topic along with a rich vocabulary that they can use in other subject areas.
Maths, RE, PE, PSHE and some areas of music are however usually still taught discreetly.
Curriculum Overview - 4 year plan
Each subject area is planned to ensure that our children make progress as they move through our school, and have achieved both the school’s aims for them, and the national curriculum’s aims by the time they leave at the end of Year 6. Our curriculum also links very closely to our 6 school values of:
Confidence and Courage, Creativity, Compassion, Connections, Curiosity, Communication
